Seattle United is extremely proud to announce the addition of Richard Reece to the Seattle United technical staff for the 2017/18season.  Reece has an extensive and unparalleled coaching resume and has coaching experience at the highest levels of youth soccer as well as NCAA Division 1 soccer with the University of Washington.

In hiring Reece, SU Director of Soccer Jimmy McAlister says, “Richard comes to Seattle United and will make an immediate impact not only with our goalkeepers but with the rest of the club as well.  We are proud to add him to an already top-tier coaching staff.”

Some of Reece’s professional accomplishments:

• Richard Reece has been a long serving member of UW soccer, joining in 2005 he is currently entering his 12^th season on the Huskies sideline.
• Reece has developed 4 UW keepers into the professional ranks:  Chris Eylander played for the Seattle Sounders, Spencer Richey is currently playing for Vancouver Whitecaps, Ryan Herman was a 1^st round MLS Draft pick to FC Dallas, Auden Schilder was drafted to the San Jose Earthquakes and Rylan Hawkins was taken by the New England Revolution.
• Under the tutelage of Reece, the above keepers have all etched their names into the UW history books by receiving Conference and Far West Regional honors along with Ryan Herman being named an All-American in 2015.
• Alongside the goalkeepers Reece works closely with the defending unit of the team which has seen Mike Chabala, Ty Harden, George John, Rafa Cox, Dylan Tucker Ganges, Andy Thoma, Justin Schmidt and All-American Taylor Peay drafted and playing in the MLS.
• Reece holds the prestigious UEFA “A” along with the USSF “A” coaching license, a USSF National Goalkeeping License, a USSF Youth license, an NSCAA Premier Diploma, an NSCAA National Goalkeeping Diploma and NSCAA Director of Coaching Diploma.
• Reece has served as Assistant Boys Director for the Region IV Olympic Development Program, as well as the State of Washington EPD.  He has worked with youth national teams on both the men’s and women’s programs as a GK coach.  Reece has served as an NSCAA national staff instructor and also the NSCAA Technical Director for Washington.  Reece has had a long history in Washington youth soccer working with Crossfire Premier with their PDL, USDDA and ECNL teams along with leading the club’s goalkeeper program.

Reece has mentored many youth players, in his years as a coach, to youth national teams and All-American honors, and has also developed many players into both college and professional players on the men’s and women’s side.

Reece and his wife Brooke reside in Redmond with their daughter’s Jazzy and Charlie.
