Dear Seattle United Families, I’d like to take this opportunity to welcome all our new members, and thank our returning members for making Seattle United such a great club. This upcoming season our club reaches a real milestone: our 1999 birth year players will be the first age group to play their entire career with our club. Our ‘99 girls won their first tournament they entered and finished with a division championship under the tutelage of head coach Jason Farrell. The ‘99 boys won their division in the RCL that first season (2010) as well. We will be sorry to see them graduate out of the club. We remain committed to the growth of our community outreach program, which is managed by Carlos Enriquez. This year we are working with 22 public schools in the Seattle area, bringing the game to over 6,000 kids. Through your generosity we have provided gear to many deserving players at our sister clubs in Africa. This year, under the leadership of our technical director Alex Chursky, our club became the first Washington State Youth soccer club to partner with the Positive Coaching Alliance. All of our directors are currently Positive Coaching Alliance “Double Goal Coaches,” and all of our coaching staff has gone through a special PCA seminar. As always, I look forward to seeing as many games as possible this fall. I have always been impressed with our teams’ and parents’ behavior on and off the pitch. There will be many successes on the field, and games will be won and plenty of goals will be scored. However, the true value of our club will be in the memories to be made. I’m proud of the fact that we have had a positive impact on our community. We are committed to supporting our financial aid program with the continued goal of making it possible for all qualified players to participate at Seattle United. I’m also aware that our club has room to improve. For example, player placement is always a delicate topic with many interesting facets. I can promise you that we always try to put the player first, and place players in a position where they can be most successful. Finally, I am always interested in hearing what our members think, and how we can do better. Please feel free to contact me at any time with any questions or concerns. Thank you.
