Dear SU Families: As we approach the end of the calendar year I want to thank you for the support you provide Seattle United. As with other nonprofits, Seattle United is responsible for fundraising efforts each year to cover funding gaps between its budget and programming. The commitment of our families in providing equal access to play opportunities here is nothing short of extraordinary, and on behalf of the club’s Board of Directors and staff, I thank you for your outstanding commitment to this important club goal. Of all of our accomplishments in our eight-year history, I am most proud of the fact that Seattle United has never turned down financial aid to a qualified applicant. At Seattle United, fundraising is limited to two programs. The first is our annual raffle, which runs from mid-November through mid-January. This year your child’s coach will distribute raffle packets in mid-November. While there will be great raffle prizes and incentives this year, the real testament to a successful raffle is your commitment to ticket sales as one-hundred percent of net raffle proceeds go to the club’s financial aid fund. This fund’s sole function is to underwrite program and team fees that provide low-income families a place and opportunity for their children to play select/premier soccer in the city of Seattle. Our other fundraiser is our annual Gala & Auction. This play-year’s Gala will take place on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Fremont Studios. Thank you to all who attended the 2017 event; in addition to raising a record amount of money, I heard from many attendees that they had a great time, too. Gala proceeds benefit three goals: coach education, field development fund, and one-hundred percent of the night’s Raise-the-Paddle goes to our financial aid fund. Also, as a registered 501(c)(3) organization, contributions to Seattle United are tax deductible to the extent allowed by the law. No goods or services can be exchanged for such donations. Thank you for your time and your continued support of the club through its 2017/18 fundraising efforts. Sincerely, Kevin LongRaffle and Gala Coming Soon
