Over the last few years Seattle United has proudly been building positive relationships with fantastic groups that serve youth in Seattle, and we feel fortunate to be able to collaborate with them to give back to the greater Seattle-area community. We are happy to report that our Community Outreach Program has rolled out another year of summer activities alongside a couple of our community partners.
Last month, we were able to have a Seattle United Soccer Station at the Boys & Girls Club of King County Field Day, which marked our 4th year participating in the event! Housed at Husky Stadium, the King County Field Day hosts over 800 kids and volunteers each year and provides them with a day full of various activities, lunch, a positive guest speaker (Seattle native and NBA star Jamal Crawford was the guest this year), and much more. With the focus of this annual event being to encourage kids to stay active and lead a healthy lifestyle, this was the perfect event for Seattle United to be a part of.
Our station was run by our Community Outreach Director Carlos Enriquez, our South Regional Director George Singh, and a handful of volunteers from the club.* During the field day, our team helped the coaches set up the field and organize the teams as the groups arrived, but more importantly, they mixed in with the groups that came by; sharing goals, nutmegs, and laughs with all that came through the station.
In addition to the field day, Seattle United is happy to share that we are also entering into our second year of partnership with the Hunger Intervention Program (HIP) through ‘Summer Eats for Kids’. Summer Eats for Kids provides freshly made, nutritious lunches from the HIP kitchen at kid-friendly locations around the north Seattle community. Every year, HIP partners with other community organizations to offer activities at meal sites to encourage participation all summer long, and Seattle United is honored to be one of the organizations they have partnered with!
We are proud of our past and present community outreach efforts and are excited to continue to work with and to be involved in helping our surrounding communities in the future—making it our mission to ensure that community outreach will always be instilled in our Seattle United DNA!
Our community outreach work is lead by Community Outreach Director, Carlos Enriquez, and is made possible by the support of our overall Seattle United community and has the full support of our Board of Directors.
