A Good Luck Message from One Amazing Goalkeeper to Another

Last year, when he was seven, Bheem Goyal was diagnosed with leukemia. An avid Seattle Sounders fan, his dream had always been to spend a day with the team — and specifically with his hero, goalkeeper Stefan Frei. In July, the Make-A-Wish Foundation helped him live that dream. First, Bheem got to practice with the team, alongside his hero Stefan. A week later, Bheem started in goal and even made a save in the opening seconds of the Sounders’ friendly against Bundesliga power Borussia Dortmund. “Since joining the Sounders, Bheem has been exuberant and proud to be a cancer warrior,” wrote his parents, Jay and Tonia, in a thank-you letter to the team. “His confidence is soaring, and our guess is that being a Sounder at age 8 will keep that confidence up for a very long time.”
