October 1st is the date the FAFSA form opens for submission. Completing and submitting the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is one of the most important steps students and their families can take to help pay for college.
Everyone, regardless of their income level or whether you think you qualify or not, should apply. This is for all current seniors or current college students. Many grants and merit scholarships are based on FAFSA, along with an organized application. The earlier you apply, the greater the opportunities for all forms of assistance and aid. The application takes less than an hour to complete, and for this year’s form, you will be using your family’s 2020 income. Your goal should be to have the form submitted within 7-10 days (or less).
