Congratulations to Founders Cup Champions, Finalists and Semi-Finalists!

Congratulations to Founders Cup Champions, Finalists and Semi-Finalists!

What a weekend for the Seattle United Regional Select teams participating in the Founder’s Cup Semifinals and Finals at Starfire!!!

The West Region had three teams that played over the course of the Founder’s Cup Finals weekend.  On the Girl’s side, the G04 Blue team narrowly lost 0-1 to their SU South counterparts in a very close and competitive game.  The G03 Blue came even closer to making the final; after a deadlocked 0-0 game, they lost 3-4 in a nail-biting shootout!  On the Boy’s side, the B07 Blue team advanced to the final by beating STU Evolution Black 5-2 in the semis and then went on to lose 0-1 to NSC Galaxy; this was the very first game of their year where they had failed to score!

NE G07 Blue won the cup in a closely fought game v the South G97 Blue team.  They had a formidable record throughout their cup run, only conceding 2 goals and putting 9 of their own away.  It was very good to see them playing so well and continuing on from their solid league season.  Especially after the team was dealt a little adversity when their coach (Ken) fell ill.  But Coach Jenn Ireland did a fantastic job and took over the team seamlessly.  She worked very hard to prepare the team during trainings over the last month and to see it pay off is magnificent.  Well Done!

South B00 Blue are Founders Cup Champions!  After losing their first match in group play, they went on to win 6 straight games.  They scored the most goals in their group with 18, and had 26 goals total.  This is coach Juan Murillo’s first season with Seattle United and his first state championship!

South G04 Blue played great possession soccer in the Founders Cup.  They narrowly lost in the final 1-0. Defensively the team was solid, they did not concede a goal in the quarterfinal or semifinal. This was coach Kizamus Tsutakawa first final.  Great job Kizamu!

South G07 Blue had a great season!  Coach Lisa Blume’s team played tough throughout the Founders Cup and were unlucky to lose in the final to their sister team from the NE.  This is coach Lisa’s first final and she’s done a great getting the kids to play hard but still have fun!

South B00 Black was the only Community team from our club in the Founders Cup Semifinal.  Coach Eric Cobb’s boys were exemplary in their representation of Seattle United.  They came from nowhere to win a very strong group!  Congratulations South B00 Black!

South B03 Blue had one of the most exciting runs in the Founders Cup!  They had 4 straight come from behind victories.  The semifinal game they were down 3-1 in overtime with minutes to play and fought back to score two goals and tie!  The boy were unfortunate to lose in a controversial pk shootout.  Great job coach Paul!

Shoreline G03 Blue, coached by Rachel Eckerlin, lost a tough one in PKs to Bainbridge Island after tying 1-1 in regulation and overtime.  Shoreline B01 Blue, coached by Karsten Hoffmann, made it all the way to the Semifinals after finishing second from bottom in NSPL Division 2.  Unfortunately, they came out on the wrong side of the scoreline against a tough STU Evolution White team.  Shoreline B02 Blue, coached by Andrei Zahajko, had a fantastic run to the finals before conceding late on in a tightly contested 1-0 loss to champions NSC Vortex.

Congratulations to ALL teams!!
