The Girls ECNL Welcomes Seattle United FC As A Member Club For The 2018-2019 Season

April 16, 2018

Seattle, WA — Seattle United FC is excited to announce that it has been accepted into the Girls ECNL for the 2018/19 play year. The Girls ECNL represents the best female youth soccer league in the United States, and is the most comprehensive elite development league for female players in the world.

“With acceptance into the ECNL, Seattle United has the opportunity to provide an excellent platform for our elite female players to showcase their abilities. The ECNL is the ideal pathway for our girls program,” said Jimmy McAlister, Seattle United’s Director of Soccer. “The ECNL represents the best of both worlds in that it provides top flight competition across the country, and yet allows these elite athletes to still play high school soccer and experience that important social aspect of the game. I am thrilled about the opportunity that the ECNL represents for Seattle United. Seattle United recognizes the accomplishments of its previous players whose success helped to lay the foundation for Seattle United’s entry into ECNL.”

“ECNL presents a wonderful player pathway for our female players who aspire to play soccer in college,” said Amy Gaffney, Seattle United’s President of the Board. “The Board is excited to be able to offer to our female players collegiate exposure through ECNL events and showcases, and the top notch development opportunities for players and coaches in the Club.”

Beginning with tryouts this May for competition during the 2018/19 season, Seattle United will field teams for U13-U18/19 year-old females, and will seek to compete at the highest levels of competition available for those age groups. Tryouts for birth years 06, 05, and 04 will be held May 7 and 8, 2018. Tryouts for birth years 03, 02, and 01/00 will be held May 14 and 15, 2018. Please check www.seattleunited.com/tryouts for more details.

“Seattle United are incredibly excited and proud to become a member of the ECNL for the 2018/19 season,” said Rich Reece, Seattle United’s Girls Director of Coaching and the club’s ECNL director. “The ECNL has proven over the years to consistently provide the highest level of competition for the female game. From my years of coaching in the ECNL, I know this will be the best platform to develop our female players and give them quality college exposure they need to play at the next level.”
