Seattle United hires Theresa Romagnolo as G03 ECNL Head Coach
May 1, 2019 – Seattle, WA – Seattle United is excited to announce the hire of Theresa Romagnolo. Theresa will be the head coach of Seattle United’s G03 ECNL team for the 2019-2020 season, and she will also manage a new program SU is launching this summer, Seattle United’s College Prep Summer Camp program.
Before returning to the University of Washington as an assistant coach for the 2018 season, Romagnolo spent four years at the University of Notre Dame as the Head Coach, leading the Fighting Irish to two Sweet Sixteen appearances and winning the 2016 ACC championship. She has coached 34 All-Conference selections in her seven years as a head coach at Notre Dame and Dartmouth, including 12 All-Region honorees and two All-Americans.
Three of Romagnolo’s coaching charges have gone on to be drafted by the NWSL. She has a .688 winning percentage in her head coaching career, putting up winning records in six of her seven years as a head coach. Romagnolo has also served as an assistant coach at Stanford and San Diego.
During her Washington playing career, Romagnolo was named to the All-Pac-12 and Pac-12 All-Academic teams every year she was eligible. She was a part of Washington’s 2000 Pac-12 championship team as well. She is second in UW history in total points with 80, scoring 27 goals in her time as a Husky.
